Dangerous Love

Hey, Friends!

So, this week we're talking about L-O-V-E. Or as we call it in the South: LUV!

It can be a lot of fun to be in love. Or even to love a friend, a family member, a pet, or child. That's a great feeling! But love isn't always easy. Sometimes it can be really hard to live out love because we just don't feel like it. Or maybe the person is being a jerk. Or we're really tired. Or... yeah, sometimes it isn't gooey.

Sometimes it can even be dangerous. The cliches (can't sleep, can't eat) sound unhealthy, but it goes beyond that. What about when infatuation turns into obsession? Or abuse? We all know the stories of what can come from that. Have you ever written (or considered writing it) into your stories? It can be terrifying, a messed up picture of what "Wuv, twue wuv" really is.

I think we've reached the point in our friendship as writing buddies where I can make this confession. You'll still love me, right? It's just a little obsession. Yes, I've lost sleep over it. No, I've never lost my appetite. But sometimes it's all I think about. Even with all the things swirling in my head right now--Peru, living in a new place, writing, etc--it's there, demanding attention. Begging me to surrender. Sometimes I just feel so. . .

LOST!

I love this show so much it's scary. You can ask my friends. I'm the girl known for remembering all the exact random connections from past seasons. I get a little too into the show whenever it's on. Most of my predictions are accurate, but I don't project too far out. I have no idea where the show is going, but last week's premiere made me really excited. I'm writing this before the second episode airs (AND PLEASE DON'T SAY ANYTHING ABOUT THE 2/9/10 EPISODE BECAUSE I WILL NOT SEE IT UNTIL WEDNESDAY NIGHT), but I expect it will be awesome too. Tuesday nights are sacred for me.

So there's my big confession. I love a tv show a little too much. Anyone feel my pain? What's your guilty pleasure? It doesn't have to be television. I'd just like to know if someone else loves something a little too much like I do. :0)

See y'all Friday!

  3. I'm a Lost fan, too. :) I didn't get into it until last year, but then watched the show from start to finish during lunch every day for six weeks or so until I caught up with the current season. Good stuff!

  6. I love blogging a little too much! I spend waaaaaaaaaaay to much time on here, on all of your blogs! More time on here than on my own writing!

And you know what's funny? I didn't know I was going to write that until I got past the world "love!"

  8. I've loved shows as much. :) But I've never seen LOST! It's one my husband would like to sit down with, so we may have to rent it all someday.

  9. OH no! Am I the only one who has never seen it? I'm so lame. My former guilty pleasure was Survivor. Major addiction, especially since I had fantasies about going on the show. OK, now I feel SUPER lame.

  10. No, Georgiana. I haven't watched it either. But I'm a sap for "Bones" even though I've wretched at a couple of their episode topics (and I don't mean forensically). And I watch my other TV shows, mostly forensic, faithfully.

And, ahem, Johnny Depp movies with a handful of exceptions.

  11. I dreamed about Sawyer last night. How's that for obsession? I like the direction the new season is taking. But I'm afraid there will be an ambiguous ending, especially with the alternative reality. Like, it's up to us to choose the ending we want. And I bet they won't answer all the questions they've raised. We'll see.

  14. I wish I had tuned into Lost in the beginning, now I feel I've missed too much to catch up or catch on!

My guilty pleasure is Survivor! Premieres tomorrow- oh yeah!

  15. I'm with you! It's healthy thing right? I'm not a Lost fan but I have other unnatural obsessions. I don't think they'll cost me eternity so I figure it's alright. ;)

  16. I've avoided LOST like the plague. However, I cannot turn down a paranormal show like True blood or Vampire diaries. What can I say, I'm hooked on vampires. It's definitely a guilty pleasure.

  17. Ah a fellow LOSTie!!!

I am an addict like no other...I love that there are so many glimpses of faith and God in it...that the characters are so, well, them. I am with you on the love for the show...and the obsession to remember every little detail.

  18. Oh, you mean it's confession day?? Okay. I LOVE Survivor. When they started putting it On Demand and I didn't have to shush everyone within a 10-mile radius, life got better.

Oh, and those French fried onion things. Twue wuv.

  19. I've never seen lost. I usually avoid getting hooked into serial-type shows.

    Now, blogging...that's another story.

  20. I love Project Runway and Top Chef and American Idol. There, I said it. These are pretty much the only TV shows I watch. I guess I'm a reality show junkie. So sad.

  21. Ah yes, my husband's Tuesday night girlfriend. LOST! He'd walk over hot coals to see her, would bring her flowers and candy, would do whatever it took to be in Lost's company every Tuesday night. hehe
By the way, the girl I interview this week loved your idea of having the object on the computer to help connect with your character. She did the same thing in a recent production. Hope you don't mind I included that in the interview.

  22. Oops, of course you wouldn't mind. You aren't the person who sent that comment. I'm so embarrassed. A senior momento!

  23. I need to watch this show!! I have only seen a few episodes but I have this weird thing about TV shows where I absolutely need to start from the beginning, otherwise I don't watch it at all. So I need to make time and watch it. :) I'm obsessed with 24 and Jack Bauer.

  24. HGTV is my guilty pleasure. How I adore House Hunters! Terrible, isn't it?

  25. I rarely watch tv but my friends keep telling me, 'you gotta watch lost.' My love? ok...naked salted chips. Yep...Put me on an Island and give me chips and I'm good. Have a great one Kristen. You're the best. Sarah

  26. I watched "Lost" only once and it didn't click, but I am addicted to watching "Law & Order" and "The Closer" while I ride the stationary bike. Last night I watched "The Biggest Loser" for the first time and LOVED it. This TV thing needs to stop, 'cause I REALLY DON'T have time!!!!

Fun post, Kristen. I love your transparency!!!
You probably don't have to worry too much about lost 'cause don't think you'll catch it in South America!!!

  28. For me it's Chuck and Dexter. I just love those shows and can't get enough. Yes, wuv, twue wove.

  29. Hmmm, I'd have to say I love Star Wars. The original, out in 1977 trilogy. I'm addicte to it. Sometimes I put them on just to have them on in the background while I work at home. I can quote almost every line. I think Han Solo rocks and Darth Vadar is the greatest villian ever. Yeah...I have a serious addiction here...

    Happy Thursday!

  30. Kristen: I luv you for admtting this.

I am addicted to my kitties, especially the baby Angus, whom I call Angie Bangie. I can be crying from an upset and if Angie walks into the room, my skies turn pink and peachy.

I'm also addicted to coffee, candy, and blogging. Don't tell anyone, okay?

    Love

  31. I watched Lost briefly but couldn't figure it out. I did think Matthew Fox was adorable in it...he was very pleasing to the eye!

  32. The Princess Bride quote cracked me up. So, I wouldn't say I love it, but I'm addicted to Dr. Pepper. I guess I'm in denial about my level of obsession. :]

  33. I don't watch too much TV. In fact, the only things I watch are the news when I'm having coffee and whatever when I'm cooking dinner. Usually Law & Order or Divine Design. But I do remember when I lived in England and the only American TV show was Star Trek. I would watch that show every day when I got home from work. It was like they were my friends, and I just had to know what they were up to. And I am so not a Trekster or whatever. Or not at least since I was ten and then that was only a KirkCrush.

I'm with the Survivor people. Last night was great!

Oh yes--and Johnny Depp, Nicole! Love him!
